For the first time, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu (RCAC) made a “sensing” or evaluation of the strengths, weaknesses (as internal factors of the team ministry), and also of the threats and opportunities (as external factors like the place where priests serve and the scope of the parish).

The Sensing was done last March 18, 2025 headed by the RCAC Team Ministry Ad Hoc Committee composed of Fr. Jeffrey Uy; Fr. Antonio Zamora; Fr. Elvin Miraflor. Moderators and members of the different team of pastors in the archdiocese attended the sensing.

It was the committee’s task to assess the team ministry using the SWOT analysis and to collect results and recommendations from priests. These in turn will be submitted to the Board of Consultors.

According to Uy, the assessment will serve as a way to help the consultors in planning on how to choose priests who will be assigned in team ministries. Also, it will help members of the team ministries in serving as a team of pastors in the different parishes in the archdiocese.

Uy explained that sensing was done in order for the members of the team ministries to see the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats allowing them to make decisions and strategies that will improve the services in the parish.

In this first sensing, answers of the SWOT analysis and recommendations were collected. Priests were divided into groups of five through random sampling. Aside from the SWOT analysis, recommendations were obliged from participating priests in order to improve the team ministries in the parishes in response to the challenges the team of pastors face in their ministry.

The results are to be collated based on the category where the results are placed. The committee members will then discuss the results and endorse them to the Board of Consultors.

“Maayo ang gibati sa mga kaparian nga mitambong human mapaminaw ang ilang mga opinyon ug mga kasinatian, ug nga nahatagan sila sa oportunidad nga mapaminaw sila,” Uy said.

(The priests who participated felt good after there opinion and experiences were heard, and that they were given the opportunity to be heard.)
