Do not let your hearts be troubled

“Do not let your hearts be troubled,” our Lord Jesus Christ tells his disciples. But why is it that so many are troubled? So many are not in peace?

And then he provides me the way not to be troubled: “Have faith in God and have faith in me.” But I remain t-r-o-u-b-l-e-d… because my faith is not steadfast. “I have faith but at the same time, I continue sinning. That is most “t-r-o-u-b-l-i-n-g.”
I go to confession. I receive communion. I sin. I go to confession. I receive communion. I sin. And that has been the cycle I follow in my life. I am going to be 70 this year. Will this be my life’s cycle until I die?

Roman Aldo really desired to enter heaven. Everything in his life was focused on that objective. One day, his guardian angel, Amordiel, appeared to him, saying, “My dear Roman Aldo, the Lord has given me permission to talk to you. When you will face the judgment seat of God, he will ask of you only one question.”

Roman Aldo was ecstatic. “What is the question?” Amordiel told him, “That is for you to discover.” And from that time on, Roman Aldo had a new purpose in life: To discover the question the Lord would ask him on the Last Judgment.

He studied and studied and studied. Books on philosophy and theology. Books on religion and the sciences. Books on love and psychology. He had a very retentive memory, and every bit of new knowledge he acquired gave him an excitement that only lovers of wisdom feel.

When he got very old, traces of dementia started creeping into his life. He would forget where he has placed the book he has been reading. He could not remember if he had drunk already the maintenance medicines the doctor prescribed for him. When he prayed the rosary, he would go from the 4th glorious mystery and then to the 2nd sorrowful mystery. He would end up praying the 5th Joyful mystery.

“I am sorry Lord,” Roman Aldo prayed, “I cannot remember the knowledge I have acquired through the years.” Then the Lord in all his glory appeared and told him, “My good and faithful servant, all the knowledge you have acquired through the years is not important.”

Roman Aldo stared at the Lord with rheumy eyes. “I wanted to discover the question you would ask me when you will judge me after I die. I wanted to be prepared for that final moment.” Then the Lord said, “My good and faithful servant, Roman Aldo. The question I would have asked you is very simple: “How have you loved me with the life I have given to you?”

And in a flash, Roman Aldo remembered what God has done for him, and he cried with tears of joy. The Lord died for him. The Lord give him his Body to eat. If he is unworthy, he could easily go to confession.

The Lord has made him a member of his family. By Baptism he become a child of God and can call him his Father in heaven. He has the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints to intercede for him.

“Roman Aldo, I have searched your heart and I know your love for me. When your hour will come, I will personally take you with me so that where I am you will always be. I have prepared a place for you in my Father’s house. DO NOT LET YOUR HEART BE T-R-O-U-B-L-E-D.
